STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN INTERSCHOOL COMPETITIONS

More than 700 kids from schools across Mumbai wholeheartedly participated in the Mumbai Tiger Fest held on February 25, 2011 at the Maharashtra Nature Park. The event comprised of a host of activities from face painting competitions and puppet shows to cloth bag painting and advertisement competitions. Dr. Munde, Director, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, inaugurated the event and visited the stalls to interact with students. Students also had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Avinash Kubal who visited the stalls along with Rushikesh Chavan from Wildlife Conservation Trust. Rohan Chakravarthy, wildlife cartoonist from Nagpur displayed his cartoons and also shared his ideas with the children. The last competition of the fest, music from junk received an overwhelming response where kids stunned the audience with the music they created out of junk and old material. Apart from the various competitions, Kendriya Vidyalaya no.3, Colaba and Udayachal School, Vikhroli received the overall prizes for the "Best information stall" and "Best environmental science project" respectively. Mumbai tiger ambassadors Ashish Makani, Podar International School, Harshal Dave, St. Xavier's High School, Shruti Narkar, IES modern School and Viraf Patrawala, Udayachal High School were felicitated for their efforts and the day ended with a prize distribution ceremony.
